The Saturday Six Pack With Mark Maynard, Episode 45
From an old converted barbershop inside the area’s largest all-nude strip club comes the forty-fifth episode of the Saturday Six Pack With Mark Maynard. Moving from print media, Mark Maynard brings his interview style to the world of AM radio.
This week Mark helped celebrate Totally Awesome Fest XII. Rather than getting bands to play on the rooftop like a David Bowie cover band, the studio was jam-packed with rock and roll. Disinformants blow out the windows of the station, interrupted briefly by a Pete Larson, Kenya-infused telephone call song.
Crime Victims are up next with with ethereal, snyth pop that lulls the audience into a dream-like state.
NODATA, the one-man band fronted by Nick Zomparelli tests the limits of a loop pedal as well as Chris Isaak’s propensity to sue.
The show ends with Steve Jolley flip-flopping between driving strangers back to his home in Brighton..
Released 30 April, 2016
Recorded live at AM1700 Radio in historic, downtown Ypsilanti, MI.
