From an old converted barbershop inside the area’s largest all-nude strip club comes the debut episode of La Radio Raza Latina hosted by Martha Valadez and Juan Zamorano-Gonzalez.
La Radio Raza Latina is the only Spanish-language, issues-oriented radio program in Southeastern Michigan. The focus of La Radio Raza Latina is to discuss news that is important to Latinos in Michigan and the US. La Radio Raza Latina is the radio program of Latin American people that identifies with our families, our town, and our people.
In this week’s episode, Martha and Juan interview Fredy Mencia about his upcoming deportation on June 26th and what the community can do help prevent Fredy from being separated from his family. Fredy has been in the US for more than fifteen years. He is married, and has three small children—all born in the US. Later, Martha and Juan hear testimony from Lourdes Salazar Bautista about the trauma of being detained.
