The Saturday Six Pack With Mark Maynard, Episode 44

From an old converted barbershop inside the area’s largest all-nude strip club comes the forty-fourth episode of the Saturday Six Pack With Mark Maynard.

Moving from print media, Mark Maynard brings his interview style to the world of AM radio. In the first hour, Mark sits down with University of Michigan lecturer, Dr. Bruce Conforth. Dr. Conforth was also the founding curator of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, serves on the Executive Board of the Robert Johnson Blues Foundation, and is also the Director of the Blues Heritage Foundation. The two explore such topics as Jann Wenner’s office, growing up in the 1950’s New York folk scene, and myths about Robert Johnson. Dr. Conforth even picks up his guitar and educates the audience on different styles of blues guitar.

In the second hour, Frank Uhle joins Mark to talk about his collection of 16mm educational films upcoming show of found film. The two enjoy a good laugh at Donald Duck’s expense as Frank describes a film wherein Donald is nearly killed from some unfortunate mishaps in the home.

Jim Cherewick is next with his guitar. Jim offers up a new song as well as a seldom played classic for the listening audience. The show ends with Soft Milk’s Dylan Beckwith and Mark critiquing Jim’s artwork.
