The Saturday Six Pack With Mark Maynard, Episode 48

From an old converted barbershop inside the area’s largest all-nude strip club comes the forty-eighth episode of the Saturday Six Pack With Mark Maynard. Moving from print media, Mark Maynard brings his interview style to the world of AM radio.

This week Mark talks with Nkrumah Steward about a recent trip he took to Wavering Place, an old plantation in South Carolina where several generations of his family lived and worked as slaves. He tells the story of sitting down with Robert Adams, a plantation owner and distant cousin, and what he’s come to learn from his experience.

Up next, Washtenaw County Sheriff Deputies Derrick Jackson, LaShayne Bynum, Eugene Rush, and Jeremiah Richardson, as well as Jason Gold from the Ann Arbor Police Department. Together they share their experiences on what it’s like to be African-American police officers in 2016.

The show ends with Detroit police detective Ira Todd joining Mark for a discussion about the case of Davontae Sanford and just how an innocent, challenged, young man could spend eight years in prison for four homicides. The highly entertaining discussion also touches on parties at the Manoogian Mansion as well as the incredibly competitive field of contract killing.

Released 16 July, 2016

Recorded live at AM1700 Radio in historic, downtown Ypsilanti, MI.
