The Saturday Six Pack With Mark Maynard, Episode 55

From an old converted barbershop inside the area’s largest all-nude strip club comes the fifty-fifth episode of the Saturday Six Pack With Mark Maynard. Moving from print media, Mark Maynard brings his interview style to the world of AM radio.

In the first hour, Mark calls upon his daughter, Clementine, to help fill dead air while he waits for 2018 gubernatorial candidate, Gretchen Whitmer, to phone in and talk about the Women’s March On Washington: Lansing Edition. After she makes a pointed and witty comment about him, he brings Desirae Simmons to the microphone to talk about the Ypsi March For Love, Resistance and Action held earlier in the day in Downtown Ypsilanti. The two discuss the the preparation that led up to the event as well as what the next steps are for organizing locally. Gretchen Whitmer then calls in to talk about the Lansing march before Mark finishes up with Desirae.

Mark then plays a twenty-two minute interview with Congresswoman Debbie Dingell. She gives her impression of both the Women’s March On Washington: Ann Arbor Edition as well as the Women’s March On Washington. She encourages the listeners to remain vigilant as we navigate the next four years.

In the second hour, Mark cold-calls fans of the show who were in Washington for the March to get their perspective on this historic event.

Later, Ypsilanti Community Schools teacher, Lynne Settles, two of her students, and local historian Matt Siegfried join Mark to talk about the MLK Day March in Ypsilanti as well as the art projects that were associated with the event. Mark then threatens the two young women, warning them they could be drafted to fight in a war.

The show ends with the world radio premiere of Peter Larson’s latest, “Dodo” by Oduor Nyagweno And The Nyatiti Attack.
