The Saturday Six Pack With Mark Maynard, Episode 23

From an old converted barbershop inside the area’s largest all-nude strip club comes the twenty-third episode of the Saturday Six Pack With Mark Maynard.

Moving from print media, Mark Maynard brings his interview style to the world of AM radio. In the first hour, Mark discusses looming cuts in mental health in Washtenaw County. First he plays a pre-recorded interview with County Commissioner Yousef Rabhi and asks him where all the money went. Later he has an in-studio discussion about the impact those cuts would have on the region with Nancy Heine of AFSCME Local 3052 and Greg Pratt of MISSION (Michigan Itinerant Shelter System, Interdependent Out of Necessity). Later in the hour, Mark revisits the scandal of Eastern Michigan University having a secret Huron logo on the inside of their band uniforms with Michelle Lietz of EMU’s Native American Student Organization and local historian Matt Siegfied. In the second hour, Craig Johnson of Modern Lady Fitness and Spelling fame drops by to play a couple songs on his experimental four-string guitar. Next, a newlywed couple and their photographer invade the studio in an effort to get some salacious wedding pictures. Finally, local ice cream maker Rob Hess shares some of his delicious product and discuss his plans to further gentrify North Washington Street with a Go Ice Cream storefront.
