The Saturday Six Pack With Mark Maynard, Episode 28

From an old converted barbershop inside the area’s largest all-nude strip club comes the twenty-eighth episode of the Saturday Six Pack With Mark Maynard.

Moving from print media, Mark Maynard brings his interview style to the world of AM radio. In the first hour, Frank Allison joins Mark for a discussion about the late-80s Ann Arbor music scene, the Ypsi Songfest, ukuleles, and the financial viability of small market movie theaters. In the second hour, University of Michigan Professor Emeritus Dr. Willis Patterson and Kira Monae Turner sit down with Mark to discuss Dr. Patterson’s Our Own Thing Chorale and their upcoming performance on October 4th at Ypsilanti’s Community Church of God. Ms. Turner gives a small preview, and Dr. Patterson talks about life in post-World War II Ann Arbor as an African-American as well as the first time he met Paul Robeson.
