The Saturday Six Pack With Mark Maynard, Episode 38

From an old converted barbershop inside the area’s largest all-nude strip club comes the thirty-eighth episode of the Saturday Six Pack With Mark Maynard.

Moving from print media, Mark Maynard brings his interview style to the world of AM radio. In the first hour, Mark chats with Ethan Lowenstein, Director of the Southeast Michigan Stewardship Coalition. The two discuss place-based education as well as the worst places to dump tires in Detroit.

Later in the hour State Representative Jeff Irwin joins the show to talk about beer league hockey and his effort to repeal the Emergency Manager law in the wake of the Flint water crisis. Jeff fails, however, to discuss House Bill 4423 and his role in increasing speed limits on some of Michigan’s highways and whether or not legislative immunity should protect those who vote in favor or increasing speeds that will surely lead to more deaths on our State’s roads.

In the second hour, Craig Johnson and Victoria Weeber of the band Spelling stop by to explain the intricate differences between concertina accordions, harmoniums, and shruti boxes. They play a couple songs and make the argument that the world needs more filters.
