THE HALL OF MIRRORS
MIDNIGHT-2AM
Influenced by Berlin. Assembled in Detroit.
Put on your neon-colored t-shirt made of breathable fabric, your baggy cargo pants, and your bright sneakers. Add a glow necklace, a pacifier, or furry animal backpack. Finally, cover yourself with body glitter. You are now ready.

JAZZ AFTER HOURS
2AM-4AM
Charlie Parker died alone while watching The Dorsey Brothers Stage Show on television in a suite at the Stanhope Hotel in New York City from lobar pneumonia, a bleeding ulcer, the advanced stages of cirrhossis, and a heart attack. When the coroner did the autopsy, he incorrectly estimated Parker’s 34 year-old body to be between 50 and 60 years of age.
If Parker were still alive and suffering from those same ailments, he would die alone while listening to this instead.

BLUES BEFORE SUNRISE
4AM-6AM
When listening to slow blues dirges from the Delta in the wee hours of the morning, the most important thing you can do is try not to kill yourself because you’re so overcome with a feeling of sadness and loss the thought of living is as painful as being cut by a thousand razor blades. This show will take you to the deep, dark place where deals with the Devil are far too common.

BLUEGRASS PRESERVATION SOCIETY
6AM-8AM
Despite the hard-scrabble existence of living in Appalachia and other rural areas with modest financial resources, there’s a reason you never see a sad banjo player. Start your mornings off with a smile the same way Bill Monroe used to start his.

MORNING JAZZ
8AM-NOON

THE SOLARIS PARADIGM
NOON-1PM
We take all of the music the nice people have sent us during previous week, cram it into an industrial-sized food processor, set it to puree, spread the mixture evenly into an 8 x 8 pan, throw it in an oven at 350°F for one hour, and then see what happens.
Sometimes it’s a wonderful chocolate ganache cake. Sometimes it’s just blood pudding.
But mostly it’s a wonderful chocolate ganache cake because, you know, you boil blood pudding and then chill until firm. You don’t bake it. That’d be really gross.

SONGS FOR THE ALREADY DEFEATED
1PM-6PM
Each and every afternoon, the programming duties are turned over to a conglomerate of record company executives, high-finance bankers, foreign car auto mechanics, and art school drop-outs. This nefarious group interprets messages from the Loom of Fate — a loom that gives the names of artists and songs to play through binary code hidden in weaving errors in the fabric. Those names the Loom of Fate spits out will supposedly cause tragedy in the future. The secret radio programming organization believes the only way to avert disaster is to play their music. According to a copy of a leaked memo, nearly four hundred and sixteen catastrophes have been prevented so far.

MOTORCITY BREAKDOWN
6PM-8PM
Doesn’t it seem like every single radio station in the world supports local music? But just because some stations are able to find one lousy hour a week in some obscure time slot to dedicate to the kids making music in your town doesn’t really mean they support the local scene.
Using material harvested from a thousand tapes and CDs that have been stuffed through our mail slot over the years, this show aims to change all that. While bigger stations may only want to play local musicians who are hitting it big, we promise to play even your crappy band.

DANCING TO MUSIC I HATE
8PM-10PM
There was a time in America when families crowded around a radio console and listened to the Jack Benny Program through the static and the fuzz because that’s what families did.
Spend weekday evenings with your family kicking out the jams to the music Jack Benny was too afraid to play had he actually played music. This is the kind of stuff Phil Harris would have really enjoyed.
RIYL: The Bevis Frond / Trilithon / Sonic Youth / The Jim Carroll Band / Guided By Voices

DREAMING WITH TEARS IN MY EYES
10PM-MIDNIGHT
For two solid hours each night, Southeastern Michigan’s only classic country radio program will take you on a journey through honky tonks, barn dances, and the Grand Ole Opry from the 50s through the 70s. Dedicated to honoring country music and its rich history, you will be treated to a showcase of the legends of country, bluegrass, and gospel music and be taken back to a time when children said “yes ma’ am”, you didn’t have to lock your front door, and Patsy Cline had not yet died in a fiery plane crash in the hills of Tennessee.
