The Music & Arts Guild Showcase, Episode 16 :: Black Jake & The Carnies

Hosted by James McGee 11 August, 2016

From an old converted barbershop inside the area’s largest all-nude strip club comes the sixteenth episode of The Music & Arts Guild Showcase with your host, James McGee.

AM1700 is joining forces with The Music & Arts Guild to form a supergroup not seen since The Birthday Party and members of Einsturzende Neubauten and Magazine teamed up to form Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds.

Focusing on local music with weekly live, in-studio performances, the Music & Arts Guild Showcase aims to spotlight bands that are making great music in the area. James handcrafts each show by picking out only the best in local music.

In this week’s episode, Black Jake & The Carnies bring their frenetic energy to the confines of the station. Black Jake is an absolute tour de force of wit and humor. The Carnies serve as admirable sidemen and compliment the fast-paced studio banter with their own brand of charm. The band dominates the airwaves and blasts through a dozen numbers before collapsing a big pool of sweat.

Released 11 August, 2016

Recorded live at AM1700 Radio in historic, downtown Ypsilanti, MI.
